SOBER OCTOBER!! · 3 October 2017

East Africa Food Crisis Appeal
Campaign by Save the Children (RCN 213890 (England & Wales), SC039570 (Scotland))
Children in East Africa continue to grapple with one of the most severe hunger crises in decades.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!

So I've decided to go Sober for October! (well it started from 27th Sept)

This basically means I will be going alcohol free for the 31 days in October.

All money raised will go to the East Africa Food Crisis.

If I break my sobriety, I will double whatever I have raised. I will also donate the money I would have spent on alcohol/nights out to the charity myself.

All donations, big or small, are welcome!

Back-to-back droughts have already left hundreds of thousands of children acutely malnourished.

Now, up to 20 million people across East Africa urgently need help.

Famine has been declared in South Sudan – the first to be announced globally for six years.

Somalia is now on the brink of famine. Severe food and water shortages have killed livestock and driven families from their homes.

The drought is forcing children in Ethiopia to drop out of school, leaving them at risk of early marriage and forced migration.

In Kenya, hundreds of thousands of children are acutely malnourished, with hunger levels expected to worsen over the coming months.

HELP SAVE CHILDREN'S LIVES

Our teams are working across East Africa to tackle the worst effects of the drought by:

  • treating children who are malnourished
  • distributing cash transfers and food vouchers
  • transporting water to drought-hit communities
  • running mobile health clinics and providing nutrition support
  • providing child protection and helping children stay in education
  • supporting families who have had to leave their homes.

We’re working hard to reach children, but the lives of millions are at stake. Please help us reach children in East Africa before it’s too late.

Last time famine hit Somalia, 130,000 children died. We must act now to prevent another disaster.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT. TOGETHER WE CAN SAVE LIVES.
