Harrie's 500km for happy hearts

What a silly challenge. Anyone who saw me after the latest half marathon will remember how I vowed to never run again. Please remind me of that moment on December 31st.
As part of the Heart Foundation this October anyone can do a marathon. Run it, walk it, jog it or complete it in a way that’s a challenge for you. Clock up the kilometres over a few days, a couple of weeks or throughout the whole month. Whether it’s at the park, in the gym, or on the streets with friends – with MyMarathon you decide the pace and you decide the place.
With this in mind and starting 1st October, I am going to be running 500km over a course of three months (92 days) averaging 5.4km a day. This is 5.4km every single bloody day. That is running in rain. Running in 40 degree heat. Running over Christmas time and running on holiday in Thailand.
BUT why I hear you say? Well your ticker is pretty damn important. We all need to actively look after it and make sure it keep on ticking healthily. I lost my wonderful Dad earlier this year very suddenly to a heart attack. I know the impact heart disease can have on families any size.
As a cheeky add on and to celebrate living life to the full, I will add an extra kilometre for everyone of my family and friends who goes for a heart check up in the three month. I'm extremely popular so I might be looking at running over 1,000km. lol jokes.
So there we have it. I'm running 500km so you all stop, take a moment and consider your heart.
Check you ticker. Don't be brokenhearted, missing someone with a broken heart.
