Pontefract Course Walk · 18 October 2021

Its prime purpose is to provide appropriate help, medical, financial and otherwise, to current and retired jockeys who are injured, unable to ride or in need.

Story

2 years ago, in August 2019, a totally innocuous fall on our
home gallops left me fighting for my life, in a coma for 6 weeks and with a serious brain injury. Surgeons in Hull Royal Infirmary initially thought there was no hope.

The next 9 months of my life were spent in hospitals around the country (including time in 2 IC Units and involving 3 major operations).

My recovery is ongoing, but the IJF have supported me from the start. Without them my rehab would not have been as extensive and my life prospects could have been very different.
