This trek initially started as a personal challenge. It's something I've always dreamed of doing ever since I was tiny, and I first understood what Everest was. Having a father who mountaineered, I was always fascinated with the physical challenge and found his attitude and stories so inspiring. Now that he's in his mid-70's (and still climbs the Pentlands once a week!), I want to tell him some stories of my own. 

However, earlier this year my Mum was diagnosed with cancer. It hit us pretty hard as like most things, you never think it'll happen to your family. Where we are however so lucky due to an early diagnoses and have fabulous support from the wonderful staff at the Oncology department at the Western General in Edinburgh, I know for others it's a very different story. 

I'm paying for this trek myself, but any donations that will go directly to Cancer Research, no matter how small, would be so appreciated. I would love to make even a tiny difference, to stop this terrible illness once and for all.
