Run the 2024 London Marathon for a world free from meningitis and septicaemia.

Story

On April 21st 2024, I will be running the London Marathon in support of Meningitis Research Foundation (#TeamMRF). Completing a marathon has been on my bucket list for a long time, and there is no cause closer to home than Meningitis.

In 2016, my father was diagnosed with Bacterial Meningitis whilst in Hong Kong. He came close to losing his life but thanks to amazing medical staff, he recovered without complications.

We were extremely lucky. This disease kills around 1 in 6 people who are diagnosed and a further 1 in 5 have severe lifelong complications including seizures, difficulties with vision, speech, memory and communication, as well as limb amputations after sepsis.

More recently, I have faced my own personal battles with Meningitis with an ongoing diagnosis of a rare form of Aseptic Meningitis (Mollaret's Meningitis).

The good news is that the World Health Organisation (WHO) has unveiled a roadmap to defeating Meningitis by 2030 - a promise to save 200,000 lives each year.

The MRF believe that this is achievable, but, we need your support. Your generosity, no matter how big or small, will make a difference. Donations will allow #TeamMRF to fund critical research, provide life-saving awareness information, and offer unwavering support to those who've lost loved ones.

Thank you for all your support and hopefully see you at the finish line!
