It’s been a tough year for everyone, the Animal sector included. At Harris Hounds, we have always strived to help where we can, and we want to continue to do so by raising funds to support Dartmoor Zoological Park by setting ourselves a challenge. And we are hoping that you and your dogs will want to get involved too!! 

DZP has to raise an eye watering £11,500 per week just to feed & care for their animals. They are huge advocates of the importance of preventing extinction, and it' somewhere we have all visited and enjoyed in more normal times.

You all know that we aren’t afraid of putting in the miles! As an Ex-Royal Marine Chris has spent most of his life doing just that, and continues to do so daily with Harris Hounds. As an Ex-military wife  Charlotte is used to supporting from behind the scenes. And with an Ex-Royal Marine for a Dad, Amy definitely isn’t shy of a Dartmoor march. So Commando life was the inspiration for our challenge….

The 30 Miler is a 30-mile march across Dartmoor, wearing full fighting order, undertaken by Royal Marine recruits in under eight hours! We are going to attempt the same route, spread over 2 days, but taking dogs with us!

Our 30 Miler will be split into 4 legs, each leg is the equivalent of 1 of our regular Commando Adventure Days, which we usually charge £30 for. So..... we are looking for 20 dogs who want to complete a leg of the walk with us, in the hopes you'd like to make a (generous ;-)) donation to our Just Giving Page.

Dependant on restrictions, we are also hoping that some of you may want to join us yourselves for a leg of the walk, bringing your own dog with you. Again, in the hopes you'd like to make a donation to our Just Giving Page.

If you want your Dog to take part, or you yourself want to join in then drop us a message asap. The Commando Days sell out within hours, so its likely our 30 Miler will fill up quickly! 

There will be the usual Videos, Lives and Pictures uploaded to Social Media over the course of the challenge. So you can join in from the comfort of your own home, and hopefully donate at the same time! 

Chris and Amy will be completing the whole challenge, while Charlotte will be sorting out the logistics of getting all of the dogs to and from home for each leg.
