Harrogate Does Denim for Dementia · 24 January 2020

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thank you for supporting Harrogate wears Denim for Dementia day on Friday 30th April 2021.

On that day you can wear any denim clothing or accessory and each donate £1 to the charity.

My mother is  76 years old and developed Alzheimers in her 60s.  Unfortunately the disease has progressed and she went into a carehome 6 months before the coronavirus pandemic. This had a devastating impact on our family and my mother’s disease.

Alzheimer patients need stimulation and regular contact with their families. Otherwise their health will decline rapidly. There are nearly 1 million people living with Dementia in the UK and 10 million globally. Urgent funds are needed for research and to help those living with the disease.

I am determined to raise as much money as possible for Alzheimer's Society. Someone is diagnosed with the disease, which currently has no cure, every 3 minutes and the youngest person to have it is 32 years old. By 2050 dementia will have over taken cancer as the number one cause of death in the UK.

Thank you so much for your vital support.
