Story
This November my closest friends, James & Sean, along with their sister Roisin had to say a premature goodbye to their 25 year old brother, Finbar.
Finbar suffered from Type 1 Diabetes, a disease that leaves the individual with no visible symptoms but a never-ending juggling act of managing a naturally high blood sugar level with daily insulin injections.
Since Finbar passed away, it has been astounding to see the joy he brought to all those around him and the impact his departure has had across communities. The strength, positivity, love and compassion that his family & friends have maintained throughout this trying time has left me touched, and i have found myself struggling to come up with any actions or words to suit Being close to the whole situation and seeing how things have developed over the past 6 weeks or so, i have been constantly searching for the 'right thing to say' and i can confirm that it doesn't exist.
I thought it would mean more for me to support James in running the bath half & raising money for Diabetes UK (whilst entertaining the south west by legging it around town on St Patrick's Day in the process). I maintain the reputation of someone who does not do exercise, i eat, drink, laugh and sleep. This won't just be 2 hours of running but 3 months of training, fundraising and preparation.
Please give all you can, even if its a couple of quid!
