Welsh Refugee Council supports sanctuary seekers & refugees to build new futures in Wales through specialist advice, support and advocacy services. We are driven by human rights, equality, social justice and to make Wales a welcoming nation of sanctuary for those seeking our protection.

Story

The  Welsh Refugee Council's Hardship Fund gives
vital support to asylum seekers who are destitute.

Without this fund, young men and women who have fled war,
persecution and discrimination would have no food.  The small amounts of money given each week gives people some dignity, sustenance and enables them to stay in contact with their families by phone.

With no recourse to public funds, asylum seekers must try to survive whilst making a fresh claim.  It is wrong that people who have so much to offer Wales, should be destitute and desperate.  Please give what you can afford and campaign for change.

Harry Iles and Duncan Forbes have taken up the challenge to walk 26 miles across the Three Peaks around Abergavenny covering the Blorenge, Sugarloaf and Skirrid mountains, a total ascent of 5000 ft on the 27 July.  It won’t be easy – but what a beautiful walk, and the funds we raise will make a real difference.  Harry is the chair of the Welsh Refugee Council and Duncan has led housing associations, tacking poverty and inequality in Wales.
