London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·

For almost 90 years, the Friends of The Royal Marsden, Chelsea has been supporting the work of the hospital in its treatment and care of patients and families affected by cancer by providing funds for the purchase of equipment, services and amenities for the benefit of patients, their carers and staff. They also provide hands on voluntary support with almost 150 volunteers who annually, contribute around 20,000 hours of their time in various areas of the hospital. In 2019 the Friends was awarded The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award given to any voluntary group in the UK.

Story

Thank you so much for donating, it means the world to myself and the charity and will help keep up the fantastic work they do.

A bit of boring background - I took up running properly during lockdown 1 (2020) just to try and lose some weight. I never thought I would be able to try and complete a marathon which seemed utterly unachievable at the time.  However, here I am giving it a crack. I can assure you it will be a slog but I hope I will get around in a respectable time. I have been told, "the crowd will get you through"... well I hope they are in fine voice when I head out.

If you scroll down you can read a bit more about Friends of the Royal Marsden.

If you do come along to watch heckling is very much encouraged...
