In celebration of UCARE's 10th anniversary I will be running the New Forest marathon on the 9th September. With training well underway, the sacrifices, dedication and blisters will be all the more worthwhile with your generous donations.
UCARE (Urology Cancer Research and Education) are an Oxford based charity committed to improving the treatment and care of cancer patients through research and education. Urological cancers, those of the kidney, bladder, prostate and testes are frequently diagnosed and account for 1 in 3 of all cancers in men and 1 in 5 of all cancers in men and women.
You can trust that your money will be put to good use by the UCARE team and unlike some of the bigger charities your donations will not be swallowed up by administrative costs and overheads. For example, one exciting project your donation might go towards is the purchase of a Robotic Surgery Simulator. This has the potential to dramatically reduce length-of-stay in hospital, time taken to return to work and the productivity of urology surgeons (www.ucare-oxford.org.uk/research-education/our-projects/).
Thanks for sparing the time to look at my page!
N.B. Prof. Proth will be joining me on the start line if he recovers from a "pulled" calf muscle in time!
