London Marathon 2024 - In Memory of Dad

London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·
Hi!
I will be running the London Marathon in April 2024, in memory of my Dad, John, who passed away in August 2021 due to complications with his MS and COVID.
Dad was diagnosed with relapsing - remitting MS in 2016 which forced many lifestyle changes to his home and work life. Despite this, he always kept a positive outlook on life even when I'm sure he wasn't feeling as positive as he was letting on. He truly was my role model.
Although we are still unsure of the exact reason for Dad's death (such is the way with MS) it appears complications arose with his MS infusion treatments and his immune system which was unable to fight off the COVID he caught in July 2021.
Since Dad's death, my life and the lives of my family have been completely turned upside down and it has been the hardest thing I have and will ever endure.
Running has been one silver lining since Dad passed. It has given me direction in life when I have been lost, and it has been a huge help in dealing with the grief of losing Dad so early in my life, whilst ensuring I stay on top of my mental health.
The impact of MS on Dad's mental health was I'm sure huge, and the support MS-UK can give to those suffering with the daily struggles of MS is invaluable. I hope my fundraising can help families deal with the impact of an MS diagnosis in any way possible and I would be extremely grateful for any donations - they really can make a huge difference!
Follow along for the journey and see you in April!
