Story
At the start of 2016 my amazing mum - Sarah Harms was diagnosed with Breast Cancer - early stage, whilst my grandmother sadly passed away many years ago with Breast Cancer which was spotted too late.
We are extremely positive with my mums diagnosis as due to it being found super early on, it will be dealt with with an operation in the next couple of weeks and we will all moved forward. Update - my mum had to have further treatment and operations making it an 8 month long uphill battle - however in July she got the words everyone was waiting to hear...the cancer has GONE!
To try and raise awareness to all my friends and family and the friends of friends and family I will be doing a couple of runs and walks throughout 2016 for Breast Cancer Care - https://www.breastcancercare.org.uk
Under the clan name of MUMford and Son (Sarah and Harry), me and my mum are doing two walks ( I will try and get her to jog a tiny part of the courses, i promise!).
Firstly, the Sports Relief 'Mile' @ Charterhouse on the 20th March which will be our little taster into the world of exercise.
We will then be doing the 'PinkRibbon' 10 miler Walk on the 21st May in Surrey, which will be a little less 'walk in the park' as my mum considers it to be...
I will then be embarking on the GREAT SOUTH RUN in October due to the fact the title of the event included the word 'RUN' my mum excluded herself from this one. Meaning I am riding solo!
Although the raising of money is fantastic, this is not my priority. My priority is to raise the awareness of breast cancer, and getting yourself, or you mother or your sister to get checked out - potentially saving someones life!
I will continue to keep everyone updated on events, and I am keen on finding any other South East England based runs to get involved in with, so stay tuned for any new running additions.
I would appreciate any support.
UPDATE - i signed up and completed the Frimley 10k looking forward to the Great South Run in October
