Story
Thank you for taking the time to read my page. My page is about fundraising to go to Zambia, in order to help three pivotal wildlife conservation organisations in Zambia.
Me and three colleagues are travelling to Zambia and competing in an incredibly challenging adventure race involving Zambian and South African schools, which will enable us to raise funds for our organisations via sponsorship and donations.
I want to go to Zambia, as their lifestyle and culture interests me. I have never been to any country outside the UK so this opportunity to experience this country and how they live day-to-day life is a huge opportunity for me. Africa is a continent I have always shown interest in and this opportunity to go is a dream for me.
Zambia is an amazing country with outstanding wildlife diversity. When I go to Zambia, I want to contribute to this wildlife by donating as much as I can to charities which work to protect the delicate wildlife populations. The money I raise will go directly to funding the trip, alongside donations to the organisations we are supporting.
The organisations we will be assisting are the Lilayi Elephant Orphanage, which protects elephants against poachers and dangerous environments, The Zambian Carnivore Programme which protects big cats in the Kafue National Park, and A Different Wild, which is a raptor rescue organisation located in Lusaka.
Training for Zambia includes a 5-8k run followed by an intense session of HIT training in the swimming pool twice a week. We also do boxercise, which is another session of HIT training, it is extremely intense and gets us all in good shape with great core strength, followed by pad work in order to get our cardiovascular fitness up.
We will also be training regularly on mountain bikes in order to condition ourselves efficiently for our 100k cycle in Zambia. All the training we do we do is as a team in order to team-build and push each other to our limits, with support, so we can all reach the required fitness goals before we depart.
