A team of runners who all work for Hastings Direct have decided to run the Virtual Hastings Half Marathon 2021. This year due to the pandemic the half marathon can be completed between now and the 21st March 2021.
Some of the team will be pleased to complete the 13.1 miles over the coming months, others in the team are going over and above what is needed, to help raise the money for Warming up the Homeless.
The team so far: Aaron Green, Dan Regelous, Melissa Ripley, James Ward, Jake Ralph, Kyle Richardson, Anastasia Morozova, Patrick Tombs, Matt Bentham, Paul Loftus, Barry Ingram, Sam Harman, David Brook, Ian Kemp, Emma Wren, Sarah Bolton, Angela Brooks, Lynn Cloute, Clare Wright and Daniel Snellgrove we also have Thomas Earle completing a cycle challenge also...
Sam Harman's story - I will be taking part in the Hastings Half marathon on the 21/03, but as well as this I'll be completing the 4 x 4 x 48 challenge from 05/03 - 07/03. This challenge means that I will run 4 miles, every 4 hours for 48 hours day and night!
While training for the half marathon I see the same faces living rough in the community and I sometimes see charities like Warming Up The Homeless setting up places to provide food and comfort for these people. During the pandemic charities have been hit hard and have had to work harder to provide the crucial support while keeping themselves safe. I hope we can raise a healthy amount of money to help them continue to make a difference in our communities.
Clare Wright's story - I’m aiming at running this in 3 chunks, which is totally out of my comfort zone & will challenge me physically & mentally.
Paul Loftus' story - Over the past 12 months we have endured prolonged lockdown periods and we have had to find ways to cope both mentally and physically. For me, running has been my support and given me a focus. I was due to run the London Marathon in April last year and then October but despite nearly completing my training twice I’m still yet to complete a marathon. Still hoping that my marathon day will come I’ve been conscious to keep up the running to maintain a steady level of fitness and so completing the virtual Hastings Half Marathon will form part of my journey and hopefully raise some much needed charity funding along the way.
