Story

After completing my first half marathon 2½ years ago, the thought of turning around and doing another 13 miles seemed impossible. However, at some point on a night out a few weeks later I entered the London marathon ballot. I had forgotten all about it until 6 months later, I received an email saying I was one of the few lucky(?) enough to get a ballot place...!

I began training early in 2020 but obviously due to the pandemic training was abandoned 12 weeks later. I completed the virtual marathon last October but at some point along the way I forgot to really do any training in the build up to it. Not learning from my mistakes, I have once again somewhat neglected training, although I have completed a few long runs with some other mad friends that are running marathons this month.

I am running in aid of Macmillan Cancer support, everyone is affected by the disease at some point. In 2019 we lost my granny to cancer. The support of Macmillan nurses in the last few weeks of her life was vital to both her and the rest of the family; it is unimaginable to think of people going through such a time alone.
