Fundraising for Cure Leukaemia
Story
Once again I am joining former England footballer & leukaemia survivor and fellow Patron of blood cancer charity Cure Leukaemia Geoff Thomas, to cycle the full Tour de France route a week ahead of the professionals in 2021
We hope to raise as a group in excess of £1m for CureLeukaemia, the charity that helped save Geoff's life. All funds raised from this event will be invested directly into the national Trials Acceleration Programme (TAP) network which Cure Leukaemia will begin funding from January 2020 allowing them to open and run clinical trials for pioneering treatments for the disease. Patients from an increased catchment area of over 20 million people will have access, as a result, to potentially life-saving treatments.
I have loved riding my bike since a youngster, I was inspired to turn to road racing following the Epic 1989 Tour de France subsequently following the race and cycling closely ever since, it was my dream to turn Pro in my late teens, but a life at the stove beckoned.
We all have friends, family and colleagues that have been effected by Cancer, with every penny you donate going direct to the charity, I know that through each pedal stroke - I am helping to make a difference.
