Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We will be playing Haydn’s complete string quartets over five Sundays in June and July, a total of 24 hours of music including 69 separate works containing some of the most inventive and enjoyable music ever written.

The complete Haydn Quartets are rarely performed in this way, and this is a rare opportunity to hear such wonderful music in three wonderful local venues: Sutton House (10 June and 8 July), St John at Hackney Church (17 June), and the Dentist, 33 Chatsworth Rd (24 June and 1 July). Full programme details at www.apollomusicprojects.org.

The performers will be members of the Apollo Chamber Orchestra, Hackney's own professional orchestra. This is not a formal concert, but a relaxed get-together to read through some of the greatest music written for string quartet, in the way that this music would have been played by the composer and his musician friends.

The aim is to raise money for the Apollo Music Projects programme, and to raise local awareness of our work in primary schools in Hackney and Tower Hamlets. Our fundraising target is £3000, and every £1 donated will help us reach our target.
