The 2.6 Challenge is a simple and fun way for everyone to do their bit to help save the UKs charities.

Story

Haydn & Yoli are both practicing creatives, Haydn specialising in photography and Yoli in illustration. We are taking part in the nationwide 2.6 Challenge, which was set up to support charities across the UK that would have received funds raised at the London marathon this year (hence 2.6/26, as the marathon is 26 miles!) but have sadly lost these donations due to Covid-19.

We have set ourselves the fundraising challenge of doing 26 artworks over 26 days, each piece, size 13cm square, taking 26mins to create on quality cartridge paper.

The aim is to enable people to help us raise funds in a couple of ways. They can sponsor our project by making donation on our Just Giving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/haydns-26-artworks-in-26-days-26-challenge and they will have the opportunity to buy the artworks by placing a bid on them on the 26 Artworks Facebook page.

How it works: Each day we will each make a new artwork and post it on our 26 Artworks Facebook page. You will be able to bid for each artwork, which will then be open for the duration of the challenge (26 days). To make a bid go to the Facebook page and comment on the post of your chosen artwork. At the end of the 26 days the winners will be announced, each artwork will go to the highest bidder. If you are a winner, we will send you a link to the JustGiving page. The artwork will be sent to you once your bid amount has gone through! Their size 13X13cm, is designed to be letterbox friendly!

The artworks will vary in media and will be one-off, limited addition pieces, made by each of us. We will aim to be as creative as possible to make something new and unique each day which will hopefully entice you to make a bid and support our cause! Each day we will work on a new theme, idea or limitation e.g. 'create an artwork only using your toes', to make it as much of a challenge as possible.

All the money raised will go directly to help the the amazing work our Mum is currently doing at the charity MHA Portsmouth & Havant Live at Home. In normal times they help older people avoid loneliness and isolation by providing active social groups, specialist dementia groups, outings, befriending, and even holidays. Now they are providing shopping, prescription collection, newsletters, jigsaw/DVD/audio book swaps, online activities and telephoning people on a regular basis to enable them to remain in contact with their local community.

Older people are now more than ever likely to suffer the debilitating effects of isolation, which is why it is vital that we support charities like this one so they are still able to reach out and continue providing much needed support.

With all planned fundraising events cancelled, the charity is really struggling and needs all the help it can get. Our Mum reached out to us personally to see if we could help, so here we are!
