Story
On 26 April 2020 I will be running the London Marathon. I will be doing this to raise money for Brain Tumour research in memory of an incredible young lady. Amelia was diagnosed with a ganglioglioma brain tumour. In all the time I knew her, Amelia faced many challenges yet never once did she grumble or moan. She dealt with everything with a positive attitude and a smile. Amelia had a sense of determination that was admirable and would achieve anything she put her mind to. She was loved by her friends and anyone who knew her, couldn’t help but admire her.
Amelia had many hospital admissions and fought each time often surprising drs with her strength and resilience. Sadly, in October 2018, Amelia was admitted to paediatric intensive care unit. Despite fighting, she passed away on 28 October 2018. She is missed by everyone who knew her and I would love to honour her memory by completing this challenge. Amelia showed that you can achieve anything you put your mind to!
In addition to this, my husband was diagnosed with a ganglioglioma in September 2007. Ironically this is the same type of tumour as Amelia and accounts for only 0.4% of brain tumours that are diagnosed.
Funding for research into brain tumours is significantly lower than that of funding for other types of cancer and this is something that needs to change.
As well as running the London Marathon, I will be running at least 2 half marathons and doing several other fundraising events.
Please, if you can, donate to this very worthy cause.
Thank you in advance xx
