As some of you will know in January 2021 my partner was diagnosed with stage 2 bowel cancer at the age of just 31. This meant he had receive gruelling IV chemotherapy for three months followed by five weeks of radiotherapy combined with oral chemotherapy. Unfortunately, scans showed the cancer was still there so the only option left was life changing surgery resulting in a stoma. Something that no one would wish to have.

Watching and supporting him going through three years of treatment and surgery has been heartbreaking. Seeing someone you love so much go through so much pain, physically and mentally  knowing there’s nothing you can do. All you can do is support them and help them through it. To be told the future you always planned to have, you may actually never get to have. Wishing that you could take it all away or you had it instead of them just to make it easier for them. 

Having been through this I’ve always wanted to give something back… and then I discovered HYROX. I’ve competed before in bikini body building competitions and I love a challenge but this is completely out of my comfort zone.

Sadly, one in two of us will be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetime and I know this Just giving page won’t take that away but I know the great work MacMillan do and want to help. I couldn’t imagine how someone would go through it alone, not having any support or anyone around them. This is why I’ve decided to do HYROX for MacMillan Cancer.
