Hayley's 150km in Sober October!

100K in Sober October! · 1 October 2020
Earlier this year (before COVID changed the direction of most things) I planned to run The Edinburgh Half Marathon for Macmillan Cancer Support. This charity does amazing work and is close to my heart supporting an illness that hit close to home for me in 2015 when, out of the blue, my dad - a fit & healthy, non-smoker - was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer.
Every day I am grateful that my dad was a fortunate survivor of this horrible illness and cherish every moment we are still lucky enough to have together, but sadly for so many, cancer is a reality of every day life. As the pandemic has delayed the marathon this year I wanted to complete another challenge to support the great work that they do to support individuals and families affected by this illness.
So, this October I plan to Run 150km, doing 5K each day in the month and to support this effort I will also be doing sober October. (As a big Prosecco lover, this may be more challenging than the actual running !!)
I have chosen this distance as the number's 1-5-0 are significant to my dad who was born on the 15th of June 50 and I would also like to set a punchy fundraising target of £1550.
Thank you in advance to everyone who reads this and who feels they would like to contribute to my challenge and support the great work that Macmillan continue to do across the UK
