Lochaber Mountain Rescue team is Scotland's busiest team, often carrying out more than 150 rescues a year. Run entirely by volunteers we rely on your generous donations to allow us to help those in need.

Story

At 1,344m (4,406 ft) Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in the UK. An ascent by the most straightforward route involves strenuous walking on a rough path. This can take anywhere between 3 and 10 hours depending on the level of fitness and weather on the day. In poor weather route finding can be very challenging. In June, 30 members of HBOS Group Internal Audit (GIA)  will spend a weekend in the Fort William area. We will complete a training day that will involve some conservation work in support of the John Muir Trust, then ascend the mountain accompanied by guides.

The ascent of the mountain and the associated conservation work will be used as a vehicle to raise £18,000 for the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team (LMRT) and FRANK Water Projects.

LMRT was set up in the 1960s by local climbers to help fellow climbers in difficulties on the mountains of Lochaber and especially Ben Nevis. It was and still is today entirely made up of unpaid volunteers.

FRANK Water Projects provide sustainable clean water projects in India.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Lochaber Mountain Rescue Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
