Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone.

Story

Saturday 27th April 2013

We did it, we finally did it. On Saturday 27th April 2013, our 7th attempt, it finally went ahead and we jumped from 15,000ft. It was an amazing day and worth the wait and hassle of all the rescheduling.

Our thanks to SkyDive Hibaldstow who did a fantastic job and kept us reassured all the way through the experience. A great company, very professional, and a pleasure to deal with.

A huge thanks to everyone who donated, we really do appreciate it.

We've added some photos of the day here on this page, and you can see the videos on our YouTube channel here :-

26th November 2012

We had our 6th attempt booked at the weeknd (Sunday 25th November), but unfortunately it did not go ahead once again due to cloudy and windy weather conditions. This was our last realistic attempt for 2012 so we have now decided to leave it for a few months and to start looking at the weather forecasts again in early Spring 2013. The new Skydive company we are now using in Lincolnshire are very accomodating and will accept bookings at fairly short notice so our chances of doing this in Spring, with some decent weather, are now very good. Thanks again to everyone who has donated so far, we really do appreciate it, and we are more determined than ever to get this thing done.! We will send out another update in Spring when we have a good idea when the 7th attempt will be. But keep an eye on the twitter feed as well, just in case.

Jonathan Hamilton, Jenny Rae, and Steve Fairclough, will soon be doing a charity skydive in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care. This is the first time any of us have done such a thing (and probably our last!), so we are seeking your support in aid of this worth-while cause. Marie Curie Cancer Care provide high quality nursing, totally free, to give people with terminal cancer and other illnesses the choice of dying at home, supported by their families. Money raised will help them to continue providing this fantastic care in the local area.

With some charity skydives, some of the money raised can help to fund the event. However, all three of us have made the easy decision of paying for the whole event out of our own pocket as we want every penny donated to go straight to Marie Curie Cancer Care, and we don’t believe in the donations contributing to our fun. I say “fun”, I actually mean the most terrifying day of our lives as we will be jumping from 14,000ft and heading towards the ground at around 120mph before the parachute opens!!!

We would really appreciate a donation in aid of this wonderful organisation so if you would like to make a contribution, no matter how small, then please do so here.

We will take photos on the day and circulate them shortly after the event to show you how we got on.

We will also post plenty of updates and photos on the build up to the event and during the actual day on Twitter at www.twitter.com/hbskydive. Or you can follow us using your twitter app at @hbskydive.

Thank you for your support.

Jonathan, Jenny and Steve
