Story
At Hastings, we are proud of our ongoing commitment to our local communities, and now more than ever we want to be there to support those in need so we hope to raise in excess of £7,500 for Open Hands in Leicester with your help!
Supporting Open Hands in Leicester, this charity provides an invaluable support to those in the local area. From food parcels to a weekly hot meal service, the charity are also helping to educate the homeless on the Coronavirus and Government guidelines as they have little or no access to news information.
Working with over 300 organisations, the charity are receiving referrals from the NHS, public bodies and councils for support as well as other charities who have had to close due to the pandemic. The charity had to also close their coffee shop, a key source of income, and are unable to allow any of their regular volunteers who are classed as elderly and/or vulnerable to work. They have seen a 50% rise in demand for their emergency food parcel service and expect this to rise significantly over the coming weeks. £7,500 will make a huge difference to the work that the Open Hands team does and the help they provide.
To start things off, we have donated £2,500 and have invited our colleagues to contribute as and when they can. In addition we will match any contributions up to a total of £2,500 so please help us smash our £7,500 target.
We are also making monies available via our new Covid-19
Community Grant Scheme for any other local charities that are helping
support our communities with Covid-19 related projects and schemes. Contact community@hastingsdirect.com for more information.
