Scottish Huntington's Association supports families impacted by Huntington’s disease (HD). 800 people in Scotland have HD with a further 3200 at risk of developing it in the future. HD impacts the ability to walk, talk and swallow, can cause mental illness and affects mood, memory and mobility.

Story

In 2018, after a long battle between knowing or not Rory was diagnosed with Huntington's Disease at the age of 31!  As a couple we have recieved so much support from SHA. They have helped us every step as we have adapted to Rory's life with HD!

We don't know what the future holds, but we know we want to help as much as we can. Raising money to help families and loved ones get the support needed throughout their HD Journey!

We are all pledging to walk/jog/run 60 miles (minimum of 2 miles per day) over the month of September. ⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡

Huntington’s disease is an illness caused by a faulty gene in your DNA. If you have Huntington’s, it affects your body’s nervous system – the network of nerve tissues in the brain and spinal cord that co-ordinate your body’s activities.

Huntington’s can cause changes with movement, learning, thinking and emotions. Once symptoms begin, the disease gradually progresses, so living with it means having to adapt to change, taking one day at a time.
