The 14 Peaks (over 3,000 ft) Challenge over 24hrs · 19 March 2008

Headlines Craniofacial Support UK provides practical support and information to people affected by craniosynostosis and other rare craniofacial conditions to help them overcome the physical, psychological and social impacts of living with these conditions.

Story

A big thank you for taking the time to visit this site and sponsoring our event.

We completed the challenge on Sunday, 1st June at 1am in the morning after 22hours of walking, scrambling and hobbling.  The picture shows us all at the final peak hiding the pain behind forced smiles! Despite being tired, aching, hungry and dehydrated it was a great event with many highs and lows both physical and mental.

Thanks to the team who were fantastic, Ed for providing back up support and to everyone that has supported this event. Laura and I are truely overwhelmed by the response and generosity of everyone and would like to thank you all. We have reached our ambitious target of £10k and money still keeps coming. Headlines are also delighted by the response and the funds will go along way to ensure they are able to continue to provide support for children and families affected by Craniofacial conditions.

The reason for doing the event came about after Laura gave birth to our twins back in May '07 and not long after Zach was diagnosed with having Aperts Syndrome, which is a Craniofacial Condition.  I had never heard of the condition before but in simple terms his skull is developing in an abnormal way which affects speech, hearing, eye sight etc.  In addition, his fingers and toes are also fused.  He has already undergone seven major operations on his head and hands and has a lot more procedures to come. Despite all this he is a happy little boy and he and his sister, Anya are keeping us on our toes!

Headlines is a small support charity that provides dedicated information and support for children and families that are affected by Aperts and other similar conditions.

Your support and generosity will make a huge difference to those children affected by these rare conditions and help them go on to lead an independent life.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Craniofacial Support Group will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So if you haven't already please dig deep and sponsor our challenge in aid of Headlines. If you have already sponsored, thank you for your generosity.

Many thanks for your support.
