2018 Manchester Half Marathon · 14 October 2018 ·
On a good day I can run a half marathon. On a bad day I cannot eat or sleep because of the agony I am in. I’m lucky. The bad days are few and far between. I hold down a job and enjoy exercise and a social life. Many are not this lucky. This condition can involve extreme fatigue, sickness and nausea, servere headaches, dizziness, depression and anxiety, very painful and heavy, irregular periods and infertility. And that is just the common side effects! I hope that by raising funds I can raise awareness of the dabillitating effects endometriosis can have but also improve treatments. I was misdiagnosed for years and when I was diagnosed, I was basically left to fend for myself. It is through my own research that I discovered the link between reduced pain and a gluten free diet. A simple solution that is too often overlooked. I am also running to inspire others with the condition to start running. It helps endlessly. Mentally and physically, it keeps me going! But also for all the significant others of those with this horrible thing. My husband Marcus and my sisters partner James, to name just two. Your love, support and empathy is priceless. It’s not easy for either of you and we fully appreciate it, and could not carry on without you both.
Thank you for reading and donating. It means the world and keeps me racking up the miles! Heather.
