Hello friends!

Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page. I am raising money and awareness for Rising Sun Domestic Violence & Abuse Service, a charity that supports women and children affected by domestic abuse in Canterbury and East Kent. 

Almost one in three women aged 16-59 will experience domestic abuse in her lifetime (Office for National Statistics, 2019);

and on average two women a week are killed by a current or former partner in England and Wales alone (ONS, 2019).

These are shocking statistics and the lockdown has only made things worse. This is why the work that Rising Sun are doing is more important now more than ever.

I first heard about Rising Sun from my friend Judith who works for the organisation. She has told me so much about their work, which includes Outreach Support, Counselling, awareness groups in schools, training for agencies on domestic abuse, children's activities, Creche, legal advice and help for families seeking refuge.

I am one of the many of us out there that has taken up running since the start of the pandemic. It has been so great on many levels, not just for fitness but for improving mental wellbeing and coping through various lockdowns.

To be able to contribute to this charity by doing something that has been so beneficial to me, hopefully we can improve the lives of others through this fundraising.Whatever you can give will be much appreciated.
