Story

2022 Update: Here we are again... It's a few days after what would have been our lovely Chris' birthday and I'm gearing up for Brighton Marathon take two. Less than a week to go until the event and even more than 2 years since he took his life, Chris is still regularly in my thoughts, so once again I'll be completing this marathon in memory of the wonderful Chris Jolly and in aid of CALM. Any donations will help them to help more people like Chris. Gone too soon. Wish me luck!

I recently lost a dear friend, Chris. He fought so hard and so bravely for many years but lost his long fight against mental health demons. Chris has been a wonderful friend to me and my husband and positively impacted those around him; touching the lives of everyone who knew him. He was always there to listen and support and make us smile. He had a wickedly fun sense of humour and made the world's best lemon meringue pie. He is so missed by so many.

I began running as part of my own mental health journey. I took my first breathless 'Couch to 5k' steps on May 23rd 2019 and managed to run a full 5km Race for Life in July. On November 23rd I completed my first 10km run in support of Movember men's charities and it was very muddy and very hard! I will be running the 26.2 mile (42km) route of the Brighton Marathon in April in memory of my dear Chris and want to raise as much money as I can so that when another man is fighting a struggle he can't overcome alone, there can be someone at the end of the phone to help him through. It might be for just one more day. It might be for a week or a month. Or it might just save a life. The life of a wonderful friend, brother, uncle. The life of a brilliant man. Please support me in this challenge.
