Story

RUNNERS CRAMP

Hi, thanks for looking at my just giving page. It was
with sadness that I heard about Alan's battle with cancer and final
passing. I played next to Alan on several occasions in the BBC
Scottish Symphony Orchestra, where he was co principal trumpet, his
dedication to keeping his playing at the top level was second to none,
sometimes even leaving the pub to fit in an extra hours practice! I'm
sure many musicians across  the UK and beyond (mammoth car journeys!)
will have their own memories of Alan, above all that of a great
trumpet player.

"Runners Cramp" is the imaginatively named quartet of runners from the
BBCSSO who will be running the Glasgow Half Marathon
 on Sunday
6th September in memory of Alan. The quartet comprises of Mark 'the
lips' O'Keeffe, Peter 'throbbin contra' Wesley, Tim 'love horn' Rundle
and Hedley 'bander' Benson! Training has been going fairly well with
regular rehydration at the local pub a priority for one member of the
team...... Most importantly we hope to raise a pile of money for
Cancer Research UK and a fitting memory for Alan.
