At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

EDIT:A couple of weeks ago, I found out my hike to Kilimanjaro would be delayed so I thought I needed a challenge before then. So, I decided to 'virtually' cycle the length of the UK, 1000km/621 miles in 5 days for Alzheimers Society.

I am currently on day 4 of 5, somehow still surviving and surprising myself more than anyone as I actually don’t feel too bad haha.
I will be keeping an update on here for the rest of the week on how I'm getting on, so please keep your eyes peeled.

So I’m going for a stroll... (sos)

Whilst I was thinking this was a great idea and I was apparently an athlete, I decided to do it for an amazing charity which I think is worth every tear that I will most definitely shed trying to walk up Kilimanjaro. This charity is there to support those affected by dementia to make sure they can create a society without fear or prejudice.

The world can be bloody scary when you can’t work out what is happening. This is something I personally have experienced when I lost large chunks of my memory and even daily routines like where I worked or who you were. We’ve all had moments you forget why you entered a room or someone’s name but imagine that weekly, daily, hourly. Not only do you become embarrassed and ashamed it can really affect your confidence. This amazing charity is there to help those affected by dementia to be able to live their lives, and help others understand the disease. Not only that, I feel like everyone has been affected by dementia, by a story, a family member or you personally. This disease does not discriminate and neither will we.

I will be walking the Machame trail over 7 days, summiting at sunset. I absolutely adore walking but this will definitely be a challenge especially without my chums. I’ll be walking every weekend as training so please recommend any walks or even come and join Chester and I!

Lots of love, Heidi xxxxx

Ps. Still waiting for confirmation there’s no Starbucks at the top..
