Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Some of you may be aware of my reasons for raising money for this worthwhile cause, others may not.

Sadly, on 14th April this year my darling Dad and best friend, passed away whilst in the loving care of St. Clare Hospice.

He was diagnosed with terminal lung Cancer in April 2009 after having suffered a cough for a few months.  He had a chest X-ray which revealed a shadow on his lung..........this was the worst news our family could have ever expected and a complete bolt out of the blue.  But Dad was a strong man and he fought with all his might for as long as he possibly could.

When he died he was only 12 days away from his 71st birthday.  He died on the day before my daughter, Rebecca's, 14th birthday but we know he was with us when we celebrated it for her.  Both Rebecca and Amy are joining me and my dearest friend, Donna Lilly, who also lost her dear Dad to cancer, and we hope to raise as much as we can.

....... and as if this wasn't enough for us to come to terms with, my Unlce Cyril Cutts also passed away at St. Clare's on 19th May this year after battling with colon cancer for the past year.  Uncle Cyril was also looked after by those 'Angels in nurses uniforms'.

*************Sadly, with this evil disease, there is only ever one winner...CANCER.***************

We are so grateful that both Dad and Uncle Cyril were taken into the loving arms of the staff at St Clare's where they spent their last precious days.  We really couldn't have wished for them to have been in a better place.   Everyone was so kind and caring, not only to Dad and Uncle Cyril, but to the families aswell. They could not do enough to make our last days with them as comfortable and as happy as they could be.

We hope to raise as much as we can for St. Clare as we have so much to thank them for.  Without them, we wouldn't have the wonderful memories of Dad's last days.  I shall always remember the baby rabbits running around on the freshly cut grass outside his room and the cherry blossom blowing off the tree as he took his last breath.

THANK YOU SO MUCH ST. CLARE AND ALL THE WONDERFUL STAFF.......LETS SEE HOW MUCH WE CAN RAISE FOR YOU.  XXXX

Rest in Peace Dad and Uncle Cyril........ we will always love you and never forget you.
