Story
Heidi’s stepping up to raise money for Lancashire Wildlife Trust who help care for Formby’s precious red squirrels.
Heidi has created her own challenge, which is to walk at least 15,000 steps a day for a whole week - that’s over 100,000 steps. Heidi wants to do many of her daily challenge steps dressed in a squirrel outfit to help raise awareness of the urgent need for support.
Heidi’s challenge will start on Saturday 22nd August and finish on Friday 28th August.
Please sponsor Heidi and help her smash her target.
Thank you so much for your support.
Here’s why Heidi’s doing the challenge in her own words.....
“I would love to do the challenge because I have lived in Formby all my life and I love it here and a big part of Formby is it’s red squirrels. I also love nature and nice family walks and there is also a walk we go on where we see red squirrels.
Red squirrels are so important and precious because they are getting more and more rare because of a disease called Squirrel Pox grey squirrels are immune to the disease but red squirrels are in danger of the disease.
I saw a poster and really wanted to help the appeal.”
The Lancashire Wildlife Trust began in 1962 by people, who like you, knew they needed to take action. Since then we have grown to be the largest nature conservation body in the area, working at a grass roots, local level whilst also being part of a strong cohesive movement. We have saved many special places, acquiring & managing them as nature reserves—we look after over 1,288 hectares of havens for rare & threatened species & habitats. But we need your help ensure our work doesn't stop there and that we continue to fight for natures survival.
