Mind Over Cancer is a charity supporting the mental health of patients and families living with a childhood or young adult cancer diagnosis (between the ages of 0-29yrs). We support people during and after treatment. When people need us, we'll be there. We're here when people are ready to talk.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page, as we embark on the Run Sandringham 5k challenge on Father's day, 19th June. If you know us both, you will know that we are not runners - especially Patrick who is currently embracing the Couch to 5k app! It takes something special to get him running - and Mind Over Cancer is just that - very special and needing urgent support.

When a child, teenager or young adult is diagnosed with cancer it effects the whole family. There isn’t a guidebook on how to get through it and everyone will cope with it in their own way.

A cancer diagnosis can bring different thoughts and feelings at different stages of a person’s life both during and after treatment.  This is normal and for those who are living with the diagnosis it is just as important for them to look after their mental health as it is their physical health. Talking about these thoughts and feelings when a person is ready to is very important… For many this could be years after treatment ends.

Thankfully neither Patrick nor I have experienced a young person's cancer diagnosis in our family, but we are very aware of the trauma that can accompany it, and know that Mind Over Cancer are the only charity addressing this issue for this group of people, and they need our help. NOW.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I promise to provide proof that Patrick Reilly (and I) really did do it - but only if you sponsor us handsomely - thank you so much, we both really appreciate it.

Patrick & Helen xx :)
