Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. We’re striving for a cure, by revolutionising the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia.

Story

Dementia stole the last ten years of my Dad's life and turned Mum into a full time carer. Her life was on hold as Dad progressed from mild confusion to being only able to communicate basic needs. It's a cruel disease. I would love to do my bit to find treatments and a way of preventing this from happening to other families. Alzheimer's Research UK is currently working hard to develop a digital tool for the early detection of neurological disease. Development of treatments for dementia is hampered by the inaccessibility of the human brain, but technological advances now allow the rapid detection of genetic variants associated with disease risk. We can be optimistic that research will bring new treatments through early and accurate diagnosis, pre-symptomatic trials and better lab models for drug discovery.

I'm not a natural runner but I am training hard and I'm determined to meet this challenge in memory of my Dad. Please help to motivate me and make me more accountable by donating what you can.
