Story
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. This January I’m taking on Dryathlon® and raising money for Cancer Research UK. I’ll be ditching the drink for one month to help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Please dig deep and donate now.
My Story...
Sister Hilly initiated the "Do-it-for-Dorothy" Dryathlon idea, big sis Jane, neice Katy and myself without any second thought hopped on board and signed up. It starts from 9am 1st January and ends midnight 31st January.
Not so hard, we're all boozed out from the holidays. Um, then you start thinking about the angsts of "must" find a job in January and the highs and lows that go with it. We're having a delayed Christmas, Saturday 4th Jan when the kids return from Cyprus, (they've not had their gifts yet). Friday nights and weekends visiting non-Dryathlon friends and family. However, to set the challenge a little higher, I'm also cutting out potatoes, bread, pasta and rice, and sweets - no gooey chocolate pud for me on Saturday.
Dorothy, my beloved Aunt, Matriarch of our family, intelligent, worldly, strict, fun, loving, successful, dynamic and most of all hugely missed when she lost her fight against cancer on 27th September 2011 leaving a void for so many. However, voids can be filled a little by keeping memories alive - hence us "Doing-it-for-Dorothy".
Dorothy this is our Christmas present to you. I know people are probably all but spent up with having just handed out all their lovely Christmas gifts and hitting the January sales so I've set my target low £150.00, if I can exceed the target FANTASTIC. All the money goes directly to the Cancer Research UK, so as already said please reach deep and give as generously as you can.
Happy 2014 to you all.
Love Helen xxx
