Helen Flitcroft is raising money for Bone Cancer Research Trust

Team: Remembering James Flitcroft

In memory of James Flitcroft
The Bone Cancer Research Trust is the leading charity dedicated to fighting primary bone cancer. Our mission is to save lives and improve outcomes for people affected by primary bone cancer through research, information, awareness and support.

Story

My son James died from Osteosarcoma in Aug 2020 after first being diagnosed with this rare bone cancer in April 2015.

James found the chemo regime used in the treatment of osteosarcoma quite gruelling and he was not alone .He was also passionate about trying to heal his own body and to workout why the body malfunctions to allow cancer cells to form.

Hence I want to help raise money for the bone cancer trust to aid them in this research  into sarcomas. I do a number of fundraisers such as dog walks , sleep outs and pop up cafes To achieve this goal .

The Bone Cancer Research Trust is dedicated to saving lives & improving outcomes for people affected by primary bone cancer. Despite being small, they fund more research projects exploring primary bone cancer than any other organisation. Other large UK cancer research charities do not prioritise bone cancer patients, in 2019 just 0.028% of their research spend went to bone cancer – not even close to 1%!Last year alone, Bone Cancer Research Trust committed an incredible £807,824 to pioneering bone cancer research - to save lives.
