Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Phil was an avid climber & supporter of this charity way before his own cancer diagnosis.

Phil was diagnosed with bladder cancer in February 2021. After 3 months of chemotherapy from April to June 21, major surgery which brought complications in August 2021, 6 weeks of radiotherapy in Sept to Oct 2021 followed by a brief period of what felt like recovery prior to Christmas, Phil’s health began to decline in early 2022. At no point did either of us think the worst. Phil handled every treatment & set back with bravery & dignity & with such an amazing strength. On the 8th February after struggling with pain management his oncologist told us his prognosis was only months left. This was utterly devastating, the worst part telling our children. We hoped to make plans to make those months the best ever & spend as much time together as a family & with wider family and friends. However on 14th February Phil collapsed at home having suffered a stroke. He was admitted to Nottingham City Hospital where his oncologist told us his condition had deteriorated so much in less than a week that he now felt that Phil only had days. We had no time to come to terms with this and spent the next days with Phil being visited by family & friends. Phil passed away on Thursday 24th February at approximately 4pm surrounded by family.
