Race to the Stones · 19 July 2014

Our aim is to help disadvantage students at times of personal crisis such as domestic abuse or child poverty. Your donations will help us support these students so they can remain in education. Examples of ways we help include, emergency housing, transport, counselling, food and winter clothing.

Story

On 19th -20th July I am going to be travelling 100km on foot from the Chilterns in Oxfordshire to the North Wessex Downs. This route, known as the Race to the Stones, follows the footsteps of Romans and Vikings along an iconic Ridgeway which passes Iron Age forts, ancient burial chambers and the mystical down-lands of Salisbury plain to the finish line at the 3,000-year-old stone circle at Avebury.

I will be aiming to run half of this 62 mile distance and power walk the rest. This will be a huge challenge for me as I haven't run for two years, since previously getting injured  in training towards a first ever Marathon. During my six months of training for this event I will walk/run over 500 miles.

Any support you are able to give will go directly to support people who face disadvantage or disabilities, it will help them to fulfill their potential. The charity has recently faced a unprecedented level of need this year and has directly supported over 120 young people this year alone to achieve qualifications and develop other skills that help them to improve their life chances.

Thank you for considering supporting me.
