We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

Wigan council staff from Etherstone day centre in leigh are showing their commitment to raising awareness of dementia by getting tattoos!!

Nine of the team will be having tattoos of the dementia flower, forget me not - the national recognised symbol for dementia awareness.

The council is part of the dementia friendly communities initiative and is working with customers, organisations and local businesses to ensure the Borough is dementia friendly and that people and carers are at the heart of any decisions made.

Etherstone staff said "we hope through our efforts we will encourage people to think about how we can all help individuals with dementia live well, to open the lines of conversation and reduce the stigma attached to the disease."

We are working in close conjunction with the Alzheimer's society and a local tattoo artist, Mark Cain of Cut throat tattoo studio, Warrington Road, leigh.

" We are all so passionate about raising awareness of dementia and excited to make this pledge"

If you would like to join our campaign, please donate, spread the word or attend our awareness event on the evening of the 26th September 6:30pm onward at the Britannia pub on St Helens Road leigh, where Mark will also be offering the dementia flower tattoo to the public at a cost of £20 plus a donation to the Alzheimer's society!

Thankyou
