Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Neil Platt was married to a dear friend of mine, Louise. When their son was only a few months old, Neil developed the first symptoms of motor neurone disease (MND). He sadly lost his battle with the disease a year and a half later. In his last months, Neil worked hard to raise awareness of the disease. He started a blog called 'The Plattitude' which chronicled his struggle against MND. It started out as a way for him to keep in touch with family and friends, but word soon spread far and wide. A documentary film even came about because of the blog!

'I Am Breathing' was released last month. It was screened internationally, all around the world, on 21st June to coincide with MND/ALS Global Awareness Day. The aim of the filmmakers was that more people would find out about MND, and that Neil's poignant story would reach policymakers and potential donors that might contribute to further research.

If you can spare any money to help me also raise some money for the MNDA, I would be very grateful. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send any unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Please dig deep and donate if you can.

Many thanks,

Helen x
