Story
In December 2017 I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 33. Following successful completion of treatment and surgery, I returned to London and embarked on the Renew Programme. Funded by Trekstock, a cancer support charity for young adults affected by cancer in their 20's and 30's. The bespoke exercise programme paired me with a personal trainer and a 12 week plan to help get me moving again, build up my strength and help restore confidence in my body's ability post surgery. Trekstock has also given me the opportunity to practice yoga, meditation, take part in a radio interview about my experience and to meet up with others of a similar age who have been through a cancer diagnosis which I have found to be very cathartic.
Over the weekend of Friday 26th April, I will be taking part in the Jurassic Coast Challenge to help raise vital funds for Trekstock so that they may continue their work to support more young adults just like myself. We will be trekking 30km along the South West Coast Path, ascending over 1700m of ascent, (greater than climbing to the summit of Ben Nevis!)
Through exercise support, practical advice and an active online and offline community, Trekstock's programmes tackle social isolation, improve quality of life and provide young adults with the tools they need to get moving again after cancer puts their life on hold.
Completing this challenge will be a great personal achievement in my recovery and It would mean so much to me if you could afford to make a donation to support this fabulous cause, thank you!
