Story
Hey folks! I need a dollar, dollar, dollar thats what I need!
Im running the Flora Mini Marathon for Brain Tumour Research as I myself was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in January 2009.
I'm now living in Ireland with my husband Seamus and my 4 beautiful children. Joseph (11), Eva (9), Annabelle (7) and Luke (5).
We as a family are always up for the "craic". In my day it wouldnt have been unheard of for me to sink 8 pints of guinness right before your very eyes...NOT ANY MORE. Described by friends and family as a bit "mental", "never stops laughing (loudly)", "not a bad irish dancer" yyeeooww!
Im pretty nifty on the dance floor and always loved my aerobics much to the embarrassment of my family as my leg always made it higher than my head. Yes i can do it sitting down and standing up!! There are photos to prove it I hear!!!
But I am running this time..not easy for me but its for a great cause.
- Brain tumour research receives less than 1% of national cancer research spending.
- More people under 40 die of a brain tumour than any other cancer.
- While the 5 year survival rate for many cancers is over 50%, for brain tumours the 5 year survival rate is just 14%.
The diagnosis of a brain tumour is DEVASTATING... to be told it is inoperable and all that can be done is to 'watch and wait' = nothing.
I want to continue to have fun with my gorgeous family and make happy memories. Im determined to live life to the full and not let this disease hold me back.
So dont be a tight arse and dig deep!!!
Thanks very much
