Story
During these difficult times, both ZSL (Zoological Society of London) Whipsnade and London Zoos have had to shut their gates again. However there are still 20,000 animals to feed and care for during this time. These Zoos are funded by paying visitors only and do not receive any government funding. Without these visitors, no money is coming into the Zoos, leaving them in a very difficult position and fearing for their future. The Zoos can not open until after Easter, which is their main income time of year. It costs over £1 million a month to run these zoos!
Whipsnade Zoo has been a huge part of my families life. I grew up alongside Whipsnade Zoo and it breaks my heart to see what they are currently going through. I do not want to see this wonderful place become extinct.
ZSL is not just about the Zoos. They run their EDGE programme working in different countries to help endangered animals and releasing animals where they can. There are so many sides to ZSL that people have no idea about. Without ZSL, many more animals would have become extinct in the wild. £1000 will help, but if more can be raised, this would be fantastic.
Thank you in advance for your support. Together we can help ZSL in these difficult times and help secure their future. Helen x
