Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. On Sunday 22nd April I'm going to be running (with maybe the odd bit of walking!) the Virgin London Marathon in aid of a very special charity, My New Hair.
My New Hair is a pioneering new charity founded and inspired by Trevor Sorbie MBE. It provides public advice, and supports a network of independent salons and professionals who provide a wig styling service for people suffering from cancer and medical hair loss. The charity is supported by celebrities such as Denise Van Outen, Gok Wan and Lorraine Kelly. For a bit more information on the inspiring work of My New Hair, why not visit the charity's website: www.mynewhair.org
For those of you who don't know, I'm a Year 2 teacher at Handcross Park School and am delighted that they have very kindly agreed to sponsor me. My New Hair is a charity very close to our hearts at Handcross Park, so their constant support, encouragement and enthusiasm for my fundraising really means a lot to me. I'm very much looking forward to the school community's (and anyone else who can spare the time) smiling faces and cheering as I make my way round the course!! Any en-route samples of Jelly Babies will always be very gratefully accepted!! ;-)
No matter how small or large an amount you would like to give, every little helps...so please do dig as deep as you can! You will be contributing towards a wonderful charity. As Trevor Sorbie himself says, ' My New Hair isn't just about hair, it's psychological medicine for anyone suffering from hair loss through illness...Giving people back their hair - hair that looks natural and attractive gives them back a little of the confidence to face the world in their darkest hour.'
If you are thinking of supporting me along the route, please do get in touch as we are getting polo shirts made up for those who would like them.
Finally, please do keep looking at the Handcross Park School weekly newsletter for updates on how training is going! www.handcrossparkschool.co.uk
Thank you!!! Look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the 22nd!! :-)
