This is Rory,

Great North Run 2023 · 10 September 2023 ·
This is Rory, at the age of 10 months old he started with nose bleeds only to discover he had a rare (Wilms) tumour on his kidney. After chemotherapy and surgery to remove his kidney and the cancerous tumour he is now on the road to a full recovery. The charity we’d like to donate and thank is The Sick Children’s Trust. This charity has the facility for parents to stay for free at the hospital while children are in intensive care and this was invaluable throughout Rory’s time of surgery. Thank you everyone for your donations to help Helene raise money for this special charity.
The Sick Childrens Trust is the charity that gives families with a seriously ill child in hospital a comfortable place to stay and a friendly ear to listen in one of our ten Homes from Home. Hospital can be a lonely and scary place for anyone, but especially a child. Providing families with somewhere to stay together just minutes from the hospital means that they can be by their sick childs side and have one less thing to worry about. With the help of so many generous supporters, like our incredible Great North Run team, we have helped over 73,000 families since 1982, with a welcoming place to stay when they have really needed it.
