Story
In the UK, 1 in 50 women will develop Ovarian Cancer in their lifetime.
2012 was a important year for me. I not only graduated but Charlie (my brother-in-law) and I were awarded 2 of out the 3 places to run the London Marathon 2013 for Target Ovarian Cancer. This disease was the cause of the sudden death of Charlie's mother a few years ago. As a result, we were made aware of how little funding and, therefore, research was available. As a joint family, we decided to embark on a challenge to run the London Marathon to enable us to raise as much as we could to support the valuable work of this charity.
We are by no means long distance runners so this mammoth task will not only be physically exhausting but also mentally demanding. We are determined to exceed last year's total so would really appreciate your support to help us in our endeavour. As far as the charity is concerned, this is the biggest fund raising event of the year and we are honoured to be charged with the responsibility of raising as much as we can.
I have always respected marathon runners and never thought I would one day be in the position of joining them. I feel strongly that Target Ovarian Cancer is such a worthy cause that I would challenge myself to the limit despite having had 3 knee operations.
Thank you in advance for any contribution you can make as I know in a smaller charity, every little helps!
