Story
In the UK, 1 in 50 women will develop Ovarian Cancer in their lifetime and 11 women die from the disease every day.
2010 was a very memorable year for my family. My brother married his
wife, Nicola in circumstances no one could ever imagine nor wish for. Ovarian Cancer was the cause of the sudden death of her mother, Pauline. Nothing I write here can ever explain the emotions that ran through every single member of our family that day. She was a very special lady and will be forever sorely missed.
As a result, we were all made aware of how little funding and, therefore, research was available. In 2013, Charlie (my brother-in-law) and I decided to embark on a challenge to run the London Marathon. With that task complete, here I am 5 years later thinking what my next sporting prowess would be. My brother (Andrew) thought it would be a wonderful idea to sign us both up to the Prudential RideLondon 100. Luck came my way and I have fortunately been offered a place through the ballet allowing me to support this worthy charity.
Andrew now sits on the Board of Trustees for Target Ovarian Cancer and as a family we have been very strong, longstanding supporters. The incredible work Annwen and the team do in raising awareness, helping suffers and developing research for Ovarian Cancer is inspirational.
I hope that is enough to make you press the donate button and support us all on this journey to beating cancer. Thank you in advance for any contribution you can make as I know in a smaller charity, every little helps!
