Help for Jemima · 30 August 2021

The Alexandra Wylie Tower Foundation supports those causes that Allie Wylie was passionate about. We hold a particular focus on helping underprivileged young people achieve their dreams and helping those young people and vulnerable families who cannot make ends meet.

Story

Jemima was seven-years-old when her mother died of cancer. Her father was in prison for most of her life. Initially, the local authority wouldn’t look after Jemima properly. They left her with people who said would take care of her and really didn’t. As Jemima was thrown out of one house after another, the only consistent thing she had was a frame with her mother’s picture in it. It went everywhere with her.

Jemima eventually became pregnant aged 16 and that’s when she was taken into a children’s home. After the children’s home, she was given her own flat. However, something went wrong with her benefits and she ended up with unpaid rent of approximately  £4735.00. This week she has been issued with an eviction notice because she doesn’t have the money to pay.

There is something else you should know about Jemima. Throughout the pandemic, when everybody was scared for their lives and didn’t want to leave their homes, Jemima was working with an ambulance crew every day picking up ill people who needed help. She didn’t miss a day’s work. Her dedication was extraordinary.

Now Jemima needs our help. Together we need to raise £4,735 and prevent her from becoming homeless. She needs this help only once, because now she has a job and can pay her rent.
